At the age of 15,Hannah left home on the Ridge to work as a
housekeeper at tha Malock home in Adrian,MI. She earned $2.50
a week which was a very respectable sum in the mid-1850s. By
the time she was 21 and met John Hahn, Hannah had saved
$300. After their marriage,they furnished their home and paid for
a horse and buggy with her savings.(from "To Walk Humbly" by

They were married in 1860 and had 9 children which produced 1
Lutheran minister and 4 teachers.
John Hahn was known as the " grand old man of Lutheranism".
He ministered for 50 years at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the
Missouri Synod at Hillsdale,MI(11 yrs); Sebewaiing(18 yrs); and
St Peters Lutheran Church in Lenox,MI(20 yrs). He was born in
Bavaria,Germany 1838 and came to America 1853 when he was
15 yrs old. He mastered the English language and taught school
for 2 terms then studied theology at Ft Wayne and St Louis,MO
graduating from the Lutheran Seminary in St Louis in 1863.
Hannah went to her Heavenly home in 1921 and John followed
in 1922.
