PARLOR
Johann Georg(George) was born in Bavaria,Germany Nov.9,1823 and
dropped peacefully asleep of old age March 27,1903 aged 79yrs,4mos,18d.
He was one of the early settlers to this part of the country. In 1847 he
accompanied his parents to America, where after a voyage of 8 wks, they all
landed in Quebec,Canada and thence made their way to the U.S. locating on
a farm of 40 ac. in Trumbell Co,OH. After spending 2 yrs there,he set out on
his own account going to Mercer Co.Pa. where he rented a farm and in 1854
he came to MI where he purchased a farm on Sec.22 Macon Twp of 100
acres. He also owned 40 acres on Sec.14. He is a living example of what
industry and energy will accomplish,as he began a poor man and is now, by
his own efforts,in possession of a good, comfortable home.
Mr.Miller was married in Trumbell Co,OH in 1848. To this union 8 children
were born; 3 sons and 5 daughters, of which 4 daughters have preceded
their father to the spirit world.
Through all the trials and hardships he did not lose sight of the all important
thing, his souls welfare. His heart and hand was always ready, his church was
his recreation and delight and never unless through sickness was his pew
empty, even to the last Sunday previous to his death. He was a faithful
member of the German Lutheran Church from whence the funeral was held
Monday March 30, where a large number of relatives, friends, and neighbors
gathered showing their high esteem in which he was held.
He leaves to mourn his loss a widow,4 children, 14 grandchildren and many
other relatives. But most of all he will be mourned in the home where by
failing health and strength he never murmured only praying that he might be
released and go home to his Lord and Savior he so faithfully trusted in so
many years. He was laid to rest in the beautiful little cemetery at Lake Ridge
in the sight of the home that had known him for nearly 50 years.
