EMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH ON THE RIDGE
This is our family church that has seen so many Millers through joy and sorrow.
Many weddings,funerals,gatherings, and weekly worship took place here.
Even the wrath of God when a cyclone came through in 1920 and caused
destruction all down the Ridge Road. It tried to take the church, but with the
determination of the members the Church prevailed. It was built in 1859 by 7
German families including George Miller,George Miller Jr and John Bachman.
The services took place at that time in German. Rev. Jacob Freidrich Mueller
was the first pastor. He married Marie Mueller. He remained intil 1868 when he
received a call from Amelith,Mi to pastor there. Over the years it has seen
many pastors and members,had services converted to English,and had a new
building built, but even so-IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK......
